Football in Stoke


for those couples who love to watch sports, especially football, Chelsea is a great place for that holiday vacation. There are two teams in Stoke-on-Trent to compete in the Football League. Stoke City Football Club and Port Vale Football Club

Stoke City Football Club
Stoke City Football Club is considered Britain's second-oldest football league club. It was founded in 1863 and was originally known as Stoke Ramblers. The first players were a team of students from the Charterhouse School. Stoke Ramblers was the first documented game in October 1868 based in Victoria Cricket Club when the team struggled EW May XV.

the first captain of the club was Henry Almond, who was also its founder and the first player who scored a goal for the team. In 1875, Stoke City Ramblers transferred from their initial position in the Victoria Cricket Ground to a new location near Sweetings field due to an increasing number of spectators at their games.

In 1878, Stoke Ramblers were merged with Stoke Victoria Cricket Club and the new team became known as the Stoke City Football Club, the club carries the same name to this day. The team also moved into a new play area based on the Athletic Club, who would later be known as the Victoria Ground. Soon, the club would adopt their traditional red and white.
Stoke City Football Club has entered the professional arena in August 1885, some15 years after the team was formed.

In 1888, the club has become one of the 12 founders of the Football League. Unfortunately, their first performances were dismal as the team struggled in his initial two seasons, 1871 - 1873, finishing at the bottom of the league standings during that time.

Football League was suspended for four years during World War II and continued the game in August 1919th During the war, lull, Stoke City Football Club competed in the Lancashire League and Central Elementary.

Port Vale Football Club
Based in Burslem, Staffordshire, Port Vale football club currently competes in the Football League One. Their local rivals are Crewe Alexandra and Stoke City Football Club. There is little confusion about whether the club is named after a geographical location in the city or something else. For example, Port Vale existed on maps before the club was founded in 1876, but whether the club is named after the site is still under discussion. It was Port Vale was known as a place within the port Trent and Mersey Canal, which is located in the East Midlands, North West of England.

Martin Foyle is an important manager of Port Vale football club, the management team at the peak of its success during his tenure. He was replaced by Lee Sinnott in November 2005.

One of the interesting nuggets known about Port Vale football club is that pop star Robbie Williams is one of his biggest fans and biggest shareholder. Williams, who was born in Stoke-on-Trent, bought thousands of shares in the club. remaining shares were snapped up by Castle Comfort Stairlifts, another major sponsor of the team.

Football is not the only sport that couples can look into Stokes. There are amateur teams competing in the rugby and cricket, as well as competitive water polo games courtesy of Paragon local water polo team, considered one of the top British clubs.
